On Tuesday it was confirmed that six pounds by Dr Seuss will cease to be published because they contain racist and insensitive images.
Relevant books include: “And Think I Saw It On Mulberry Street”, “If I Was Running The Zoo”, “McElligot’s Pool”, “On Beyond Zebra!”, “Super Scrambled Eggs!” and “The Cat’s Quizzer.”
“These books describe people in a hurtful and wrong way”, Dr. Seuss Enterprises told The Associated Press in a statement that coincided with the birthday of the deceased author and illustrator.
“Stopping sales of these books is only part of our commitment and our larger plan to ensure that the Dr. Seuss Enterprises catalog represents and supports all communities and families,” the statement continued.

The books of Dr. Seuss – who was born Theodor Seuss Geisel in Springfield, Massachusetts on March 2, 1904 – have been translated into dozens of languages as well as Braille and are sold in over 100 countries. He died in 1991.
They are so popular, five feature films were made on the basis of the works of the beloved author. Headlines that have hit the big screen include:
“How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (2000)
The film was directed by Ron Howard and stars Jim Carrey in the title role with Anthony Hopkins as the narrator.
“The Cat in the Hat” (2003)
The film was directed by Bo Welch and stars Mike Myers.
“Horton is heating up a Who!” (2008)
The animated film was directed by Jimmy Hayward and Steve Martino features the voices of Jim Carrey and Steve Carell.
“The Lorax” (2012)
The animated film was directed by Chris Renaud and features the voices of Danny DeVito, Ed Helms and Zac Efron.
“The Grinch” (2018)
The animated film was directed by Scott Mosier and Yarrow Cheney and is narrated by Pharrell Williams. Voice actors include Benedict Cumberbatch, Rashida Jones, and Kenan Thompson.
The decision to stop publishing and selling the books was made last year after months of discussions, the company, which was founded by the Seuss family, told AP.

“Dr. Seuss Enterprises listened to and gathered feedback from our audience, including educators, academics and experts in the field, as part of our review process. We then worked with a panel of experts, including educators, to review our catalog of titles, ”he said. .

In “And Thinking I Saw It On Mulberry Street”, an Asian person is depicted wearing a conical hat, holding chopsticks and eating from a bowl.
“If I Ran the Zoo” includes a drawing of two barefoot African men wearing what appear to be grass skirts with their hair tied above their heads.

Dr Seuss remains so popular that his estate earned around $ 33 million pre-tax in 2020, down from just $ 9.5 million five years ago, the company said.
Forbes ranked him # 2 on his highest-paid deceased celebrities of 2020, behind late pop star Michael Jackson.
