8 ways Tom Holland’s Spidey could join the Sony universe

Spider-Man has been a more than welcome member of the entire MCU since he first appeared on screen in 2016 Captain America: Civil War, but his days in Marvel’s big-screen franchise have always been numbered. The character is effectively on loan to Marvel Studios from Sony, the studio that owns the rights to Spidey and pretty much all of his supporting characters.

From 2018 Venom, Sony has built its own Marvel-based cinematic universe, the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters (sometimes abbreviated to the equally complicated acronym “SPUMC”). It’s only a matter of time before Tom Holland’s Spidey is taken out of the MCU and added to the SPUMC as well.

8 Continuing his solo adventures without MCU references

Since Peter Parker is a high school student, his solo adventures tend to be low-stakes with little connection to the larger MCU beyond his cameo mentors.

As long as Peter never appears in another Avengers movie, there’s no reason her MCU solo series couldn’t continue in the SPUMC with Ned and MJ and The Flash and the rest of her established supporting cast.

7 Drag it out of the MCU and into the SPUMC via the multiverse

Simply following Spider-Man: No Path Home without any reference to the MCU, it might not work, as the MCU’s Earth is still in shock afterEnd of Game and Peter’s connection with Tony Stark has been a big part of his character arc so far.

Instead, Sony may need to make the crossover universe a bit more literal. If the MCU is one universe and the SPUMC is another universe, Sony could just remove Holland’s Spidey from the MCU and put it in the SPUMC via the multiverse.

6 Team up with Venom

The next Venom after, Let there be carnage, is about to introduce Cletus Kasady, better known as the supervillain Carnage. In the comics, Venom is primarily a Spider-Man villain, but the two are known to team up – usually to fight Carnage when he gets out of hand. Such a team could occur in the final act of the Venom continuation if Sony really wants to surprise the public.

Or, if Sony couldn’t negotiate the rights and Spider-Man wouldn’t be in Venom 2, so as long as Carnage is not killed in Let there be carnage (and I hope it won’t, because too many modern comic book movies kill iconic villains who deserve longer arcs), then the Venom The series could draw on a team of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker and Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock to defeat Carnage once and for all.

5 The long-gestating Sinister Six movie

Spider-Man faces off against Doc Ock, Electro, Sandman, Kraven, Mysterio, and The Vulture.

A Sinister Six movie has been in development at Sony since 2013, with Drew Goddard in the director’s chair, but it stalled after the box office underperformance of The Incredible Spider-Man 2. As this was one of the projects that led to the creation of the SPUMC in the first place, it is likely that it will eventually come true.

What brings the Sinister Six together is their shared hatred of Spider-Man. They’re essentially an anti-Spidey company, so it would make perfect sense for the webslinger himself to appear in their movie.

4 Integrate him into the animated Spider-Verse

After the meteoric success of Into the Spider-VerseSony will surely continue to expand the animated side of its Spider-Man release. The original 2018 masterpiece featured Miles Morales alongside two different versions of Peter Parker and a bunch of other interdimensional Spider-Men.

Since the sequel is expected to incorporate Spider-Man 2099, the sky’s the limit for the Spider-Verse. Along with this new addition, Tom Holland’s Spidey could also be made part of the animated universe.

3 A cameo in Morbius

On January 28, 2022, Sony is expected to be released Morbius, a SPUMC film starring Jared Leto as vampiric supervillain Michael Morbius. Tyrese Gibson recently declared the film part of the MCU, which Sony has since denied.

Despite this, according to the film’s trailers, Morbius seems to have MCU connections. Michael Keaton’s Vulture Back home makes an appearance and the Daily Bugle logo apparently references the end of Far from home. There is a slim chance that Holland’s Spidey will make an appearance in this movie.

2 Kraven’s solo movie could revolve around hunting for Spidey

Sony recently announced a Kraven the hunter solo movie starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson which will be released on January 13, 2023. It’s unclear what a Kraven solo movie will be about, as it is primarily characterized by Spider-Man, but that might be what the movie is about. will concentrate.

In the comics, Kraven is a big game hunter who determines that Spider-Man is the ultimate prey and sets out to hunt him down and kill him. This hunt could be the focus of the film. Tom Holland’s Spidey could exist on the outskirts as we follow the story from Kraven’s perspective.

1 Mentor A Miles Morales

If Sony is building an entire cinematic universe based on Spider-Man characters, then the introduction of a live-action Miles Morales seems inevitable. Of Strange things‘Caleb McLaughlin at Moonlightfrom Alex R. Hibbert to Into the Spider-Verse Voice actor Shameik Moore, there are a lot of good candidates.

When Holland is ready to step down as Peter Parker, he could mentor a Live Miles to become the definitive Spider-Man of the SPUMC.
