In the latest issue of DC Comics’ Joker, that of Barbara Gordon Bat girl confirmed some of the most reliable weapons in the DC Universe. While the series was largely centered around Jim Gordon and his hunt for the Clown Prince of Crime in the wake of the Joker War, he received the support of his daughter Barbara, using all the resources of the Batcomputer to help him in his research. However, this put Batgirl in the crosshairs of the Court of Owls, Jim Gordon’s secret employers who hired him to sue the Joker. Yet as Barbara and her fellow Batgirls were attacked by one of the Court Talons, they managed to turn the tide with the one weapon the assassin couldn’t sabotage.

In previous issues of Joker from writer James Tynion IV and artist Guillem March, Jim Gordon is no longer Gotham’s police commissioner and reluctantly nears retirement. However, before that happens, he finally has the chance to defeat his elusive “scarecrow,” the Joker himself. Hired by a mysterious woman named Cressida, Jim Gordon received a considerable sum of money and received numerous resources to kill the Joker. However, while Gordon is determined to find Joker, it is not yet clear whether he will ultimately decide to do so by pulling the trigger. Gordon’s new assignment also saw Jim reveal that he had known Batgirl’s true identity for some time, which earned him more honesty than ever before as a father and daughter.
