COVID NYC Update: Hunts Point Produce Market Workers Strike Over Wage Dispute

NEW YORK (WABC) – For the first time in decades, workers at Hunts Point Produce Market are on strike over a wage dispute.

Workers want a $ 1 an hour increase and more health care support.

They say the market has billions of dollars in sales and received more than $ 15 million in repayable PPP loans during the coronavirus pandemic.

“They don’t treat us fairly. They don’t think we are essential. We are essential. We have been here since the start of the pandemic. We have been here risking our lives and coming here to work for these people,” he added. said the worker.
