With every episode on Fox 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star comes disaster for our beloved first responders, but some have been much larger or spanned several episodes, such as the tsunami that hit Los Angeles at the start of 9-1-1 Season 3 or, more recently, the ice storm that shut down Austin to begin with lone star Season 3. 7. The blackout (9-1-1 Season 5, episodes 1-3)

The events of all three episodes are vitally important – whether the blackout has started or not – to what happens when Los Angeles loses power for more than a week. As first responders fight over escaped zoo animals and deal with the aftermath of a power outage during a heat wave, the event is intercut with a focus on Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and what she’s going through as a new mom with postpartum depression, ending with Maddie leaving Chimney (Kenneth Choi) and their baby because she thinks they are better off without her.

However, the bulk of the event goes back to the hunt for serial rapist Athena (Angela Bassette) caught who nearly killed her in Season 3: Jeffrey Hudson (Noah bean). Just before the blackout, it was finally time for Hudson’s trial and Athena had to testify. However, due to technical difficulties caused by a citywide ransomware attack, Hudson managed to escape into the crowd. After a series of incredible events that nearly killed another officer, Hudson went undetected long enough to kidnap Athena’s son, Harry (Marcanthonee Reis), putting a clock on Hudson’s capture.

Altogether, the event has a few high points (like learning that Athena shot Hudson in the groin), but is dragged down by uninspired stories and unpleasant calls that 118 answers. Hudson, too, wasn’t a villain worth revisiting, and the event seemed unnecessarily dedicated to showing Athena as a failed cop who couldn’t realize she was Hudson’s target. and put his family in danger. There was potential, but he never quite reached that potential.

6. The Ice Storm (9-1-1: Lone Star Season 3, episodes 1-4)

Honestly, the main reason why the recent ice storm lone star Season 3 is not ranked last due to the highlights around Grace (sierra mclain) and Charles (Raphael Silva) in the event finale. Otherwise, like the blackout, it felt uninspired and like something the show “had to” do to keep up the trend of starting seasons with a disaster. Put TK (Ronen Rubenstein) on his deathbed from hypothermia didn’t help either, as there was no doubt he would survive, rendering most of the worry and panic around his life status or unnecessary death.

The highlight of this story was, without a doubt, the emotional impact it had on Carlos as he and TK both revisited why they broke up (offscreen) and their true feelings for each other. ‘other. Another highlight is Grace delivering her baby while caught in the storm with Billy (Billy Burk), a man she despised, which gave McClain a chance to shine while Judd and Grace welcomed their child into the world in the most fitting way possible for these shows.

the 9-1-1 The universe stood out for requiring first responders to help out in some insane situations, but that wasn’t delivered here either, other than in the premiere when a man was nearly decapitated by a piece of ice. while he was road skiing. Plus, instead of showing plenty of urgency over this four-episode event (longer than any other in the history of the universe), so much time was spent convincing Owen (Rob Lowe) to return and become the savior of all instead of giving the other members of Team 126 a chance to shine, an aspect of lone star it’s so tired at this point.

5. The Dust Storm (9-1-1: Lone Star Season 2, Episode 14)

In the lone star Season 2 finale, a dust storm arrives in Texas just as the 126 are being reassigned to new fire stations following the explosion that destroyed theirs. While not a multi-episode event, or maybe because of that, this storm really shook things up for everyone. Following the recent and sudden death of her husband, Tommy (Gina Torres) plans to quit her job as a paramedic captain to be home with her daughters, but the storm makes her presence in the field a necessity and helps her see how much she loves her job (with the blessing of her twin daughters , of cours ).

For the first time, Mateo (Julien Works) also plays a pivotal role, as he is caught in the middle of the storm after being abused by the captain of his new fire station. The Dust Storm gives Mateo a chance to show off how much he’s grown and how far he’s come as a firefighter since the series premiere. His heroic actions earn the respect of his new team, but also allow audiences to see the character in a new light, which is one of the factors that usually makes these Crisis episodes so special. (Plus, that climactic ending with Owen punching Billy after revealing that Fire Station 126 won’t be restored is still delightful.)

4. Breaking the dam (9-1-1 season 4, episodes 1 and 2)

Otherwise known for mudslides caused by dam failure, the start of 9-1-1 Season 4 is, for the most part, well done. After being nearly killed, Athena returns to work and, on the first day, is called into action to help evacuate the Hollywood Hills area. Unfortunately, she meets a woman with agoraphobia who hasn’t left her house in years and doesn’t plan to, ending the crisis’ first episode with the house collapsing and the women trapped inside. inside. Focusing on their very different fears to temporarily bond Athena and Sylvia was a great choice on the writers’ part and made their situation all the sweeter.

Other disaster highlights include Chimney who stumbles upon a group of pregnant women and the labor that follows, and May’s new role at the dispatch center which really tests her considering what is happening to her mother and of the fear she has faced since her mother nearly died. . This crisis is far from being one of the best but remains above average.

3. The Solar Storm (9-1-1: Lone Star season 1, episode 10)

The solar storm in the lone star The Season 1 finale is an awesome and powerful episode for many reasons. One is the devastating call Grace receives at the dispatch center in the middle of the storm from an astronaut who is dying, in space, of radiation poisoning and wants to speak a last time with his wife and daughter. One of the most moving — if not the most — appeals to be made on the spinoff, thanks in part to the performance McClain gives as the gravity of the situation hits Grace hard.

The ensuing chaos after the storm passes creates devastation everywhere, as phone calls cannot go through and electronics (like stoplights) misbehave. Among other things, the episode also functions as a big, unexpected ending for Michelle Blake (Liv Tyler), who finds her sister who has been missing for three years and begins trying to help her with her sister’s untreated schizophrenia. The episode is thrilling from start to finish and filled with moments that enhance the characters’ journeys, like TK and Carlos helping out when they’re at the site of a bus crash before first responders, or showing the impacts of their career. .

2. The tsunami (9-1-1 season 3, episodes 2 and 3)

The tsunami episodes at the start of 9-1-1 Season 3 remain some of the show’s strongest episodes to date, not least due to the fact that the writers chose to put Buck (Oliver Stark) and the young Christophe (Gavin McHugh) in the midst of the disaster, as the tsunami hit while they were at the Santa Monica Pier. Buck’s desperation to save Christopher – especially after his disappearance – is so fantastical and moving, bringing out a vulnerability and protectiveness in Buck that had never been seen before, but added so many layers to the character.

The way the crisis was handled, with various flashbacks and glimpses of tsunami disasters across the city, kept viewers glued to the edge of their seats, waiting to see what jaw-dropping thing was to follow. While the event is very focused on Buck’s emotional state, first responders are simultaneously helping people all over town – whether it’s 118, Athena in the field, or Maddie using her quick wit at the call center to make a difference for those in the wake of the tsunami. Simply put, there’s such a great balance between everything that makes the show so good.

1. The earthquake (9-1-1 season 2, episodes 2 and 3)

The first major disaster in the 9-1-1 universe started Season 2 on a high, especially for new additions Maddie and Eddie (Ryan Guzman). On her first day at the call center, Maddie’s training was abruptly ended so she could step in and help with incoming calls following the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that struck Los Angeles and created many crises in the city. Meanwhile, Eddie’s life at 118 got off to a dangerous start when the team was called to a crumbling hotel that was falling apart completely.

The friendship between Buck and Eddie has been a highlight of 9-1-1 since their journey to the upper floors of the hotel. Because it was the first of its kind, we weren’t sure what to expect from this disaster. The first episode ended with Hen trapped in the dead-end hotel parking lot, searching for a little girl who had gone missing. Every second of Crisis was shocking, enjoyable, and tested these characters in ways we’ve never seen before. Chances are nothing will ever top this disaster, because it really did come together so satisfyingly, bringing viewers even closer to these characters and making us really start to care about them all.
