Miss Universe 2017 Demi Leigh Nel-Peters Tebow will be one of the hosts of the upcoming Miss Universe Philippines 2022 pageant, which will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on April 30.
Apart from that, one of the things she looks forward to while visiting the Philippines is her trip to Davao City where her husband, American football star Tim Tebow has established the Tebow Cure Hospital which offers healing physical and spiritual to children.
“I am definitely very honored to have been asked to host this year. The Philippines is a very special place for my husband and me. It was the first country I visited as Miss Universe 2017, and my husband was actually born in the Philippines, so it’s very close to both of our hearts,” Demi, an interview with Voltaire Tayag, said. “We have various philanthropic endeavors in the Philippines where we are passionate about fighting for people who cannot fight for themselves. Tebow CURE Hospital in Davao City is one of our favorite places. Tebow CURE Hospital provides physical and spiritual healing for children in need of orthopedic surgeries.
“Another special place close to our hearts is the Village of Hope in partnership with Compassionate Hope which provides a safe and loving home for children who are victims of online child sexual exploitation. Great to see everyone from the MUPh organization as well as visiting some of our philanthropic organizations while we were there!” Demi also said.
Asked about her fondest memories from the Philippines, Demi said, “One of my fondest memories from the Philippines is when I first visited the Philippines as Miss Universe. Getting to know the people, the culture and eating halo-halo for the first time was an amazing experience. I also got to visit Batanes which was beautiful, and just exploring the area was really memorable. Another good memory was doing campaigns cinematic with Pia and Iris, my Miss Universe sisters, who I am so excited to co-host with this year!”
Demi said she was thrilled to reunite with some of my Miss Universe Philippines family and other Miss Universe sisters, like Pia, Catriona and Iris, and meet Harnaaz for the first time.
“I’m excited to be able to talk to all of the finalists about the importance of purpose and to learn more about their advocacy and philanthropic work. I look forward to hearing more about the things they are passionate about because i truly believe that each of us is born with purpose and purpose in this life, and our purpose usually isn’t ourselves at all.It’s really how we use our purpose and passion to have a impact on our country, our communities and ultimately our world. All of these 16 finalists have so much to offer, and I am excited to see how they will use what they have to impact their communities and their country,” she also said.
Demi is also looking forward to tasting mango and sticky rice, and halo-halo! “The Philippines definitely has some of the best mangoes I’ve ever tasted.”
