There is still a lot of life in The walking dead Universe. AMC Networks Acting CEO Matthew Blank Says Action Live Walking Dead The franchise, which has spawned two spinoffs and at least two more in the works, “will live a long time” as the universe expands to television and movie screens. 2022 marks the end of AMC’s flagship zombie drama The walking dead – back with Part 2 of its extended 24-episode final season in February – and the debut of the previously announced anthology spin-off series Tales of the Living Dead.

Living this summer on the network and on AMC +, Tales could “bring a whole new generation of Walking Dead fans in the universe, ”Blank said on Monday during the UBS Global Technology, Media and Telecom virtual conference (via Hollywood journalist). The series, created by TWD Universe Content Manager Scott Gimple with Walking Dead Franchise veteran Channing Powell as showrunner sees the return of former franchise characters with stories set through the decade-long zombie apocalypse.

With the last 16 episodes of The walking dead, anthology series Tales is part of an AMC line which is “probably the strongest program we have had in many years”. Reaffirming AMC’s commitment to its flagship franchise, Blank said The walking dead Universe, “It’s a franchise that will live on for a long time.”

Blank’s comments come a day after AMC’s official renewal Fear the living dead for season 8, with series regular Kim Dickens reprising her role as Madison Clark. The second half of season 7 and the first half of season 8 will air next year on the network.

Spinning The walking dead is the untitled spin-off starring the characters of Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), both fan favorites of the flagship series since its first season in 2010. Walking Dead Showrunner Angela Kang also returns for this series scheduled for 2023.

Also in development is the first Film of the living dead. Originally advertised by Gimple as a trilogy that would air as AMC Original films on the network, AMC Studios and Skybound Entertainment are teaming up with Universal Pictures to bring Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) back to the universe – this time in movie theaters. Two-season limited event series The Walking Dead: The World Beyond, the Gimple and Matt Negrete co-created spin-off that aired a total of 20 episodes, ended Sunday with what was the series’ first-ever finale for the Walking Dead Universe. The series ended with a post-credits epilogue bringing new life to the ten-year-old universe.
