What’s all the hype about astrology? | Arts & Culture

Every time I open TikTok or other social media apps, I can almost guarantee that I will find a video or article related to astrology. It seems like everyone’s been interested in astrology lately – well, either interested or annoyed.

Some people use it to learn more about themselves, while others use it to judge people they’ve just met based on their sun sign. I decided to explore astrology in more depth – with tarot and the Enneagram.

Here is what I found:

Astrology is more than your sun sign

Until a few years ago, I thought astrology was hogwash. I am a Pisces, a quick Google search will tell you that I am sensitive, creative, and “emotionally fluid”. Basically people would tell me I’m a dreamer with my head in the clouds like Luna Lovegood.

It never felt right to me, and I thought any sign could really apply to any person, and maybe they can. But, over the past year of delving deeper into astrology, I’ve learned that it can play a role in every person’s life, and maybe the stars really do have a strong influence on us. . At the very least, astrology has helped me become more introspective and learn more about myself.

What really helped me understand the hype around astrology is looking at my moon sign and rising sign with my sun sign. From the free site Astrology Coffee, your sun sign represents individuality and your ego, the moon sign represents your emotions and your ascendant represents how you present yourself to the world.

Once I delved into these three signs and their locations – the compassion and sentimentality of the Pisces suns, the intense emotions of the Scorpio moons, and the need for order of the Virgo ascendants – I became more intrigued and delved into the world of astrology.

If you know your date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth, you can also find out what all of these signs mean and how it affects your life, if any.

Is personality just a number?

Over the past few years, some people in my life have started talking about the Enneagram test and how it has helped them learn about their personality traits.

According to the site Truth, which offers an Enneagram test, the goal is to “identify the superpowers of your personality”. I sat down and spent 15 minutes taking the test – responding to statements such as “I never really feel like a member of social groups” or “I make a significant contribution to my community” . You rate each statement on a scale from inaccurate to precise.

The site requires payment to unlock a full report on your personality. However, it will tell you your main personality type for free.

My main personality type according to the Enneagram is two. This means that I am a caregiver and expect a lot of appreciation for these efforts, according to the site. He also said that I have “a knack for making others feel like the most important person in the world.”

I have always been told that I am a nurturer and often put the needs of others before my own, and the Enneagram has confirmed this. The questions have encouraged me to think more deeply about aspects of my life and I encourage everyone to give it a try.

The power of cards

I used to find tarot decks silly and an unlikely form of fortune telling. But then I changed my way of thinking. Maybe the cards don’t tell you your future or answer all of your questions, but rather make you think more deeply about a situation and use the cards to help guide your thinking.

I had my first tarot deck the summer before entering college. The 36 cards can be used in different ways and there is no right way to read tarot.

Today I pulled a mother of cups. According to Kim Krans’ The Wild Unknown Tarot, the Mother of Cups has natural psychic abilities. His ideas help heal those around him. There is more on the menu, but just this first piece made me think about this article and hope that maybe it will bring healing and excitement to the readers.

Whether or not you think astrology is really influencing your life, that the tarot can read a situation, or the enneagram tests can really reveal your personality, I encourage experimenting to see if any of them bring clarity or a better understanding of yourself.
