Meet the ‘Game of Thrones’ Actor Jumping into the ‘Yellowstone’ Universe

The next Yellowstone prequel, 1923, will feature beloved game of thrones starring Jerome Flynn. Flynn is best known in the United States for playing Bronn, the salesman who became incredibly close to House Lannister in the HBO fantasy drama. Deadline recently announced that he is joining the Yellowstone franchise, but it’s unclear just how similar his new character might be.

Flynn joins an all-star cast including Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren on 1923, the second Paramount Network prequel spin-off Yellow stone. Although he may not be as well-known as these co-stars, Flynn has definitely become a global star over the past few years. Bronn’s role didn’t necessarily have to be as big or long-lived as Flynn made it, but his popularity among fans kept Flynn going. game of thrones for years.

Flynn was born and raised in England, and both of his parents were professional actors, which made it easy for him to follow them into the industry. He had several hired roles on ITV before achieving international fame, and in fact had retired from acting for almost a decade before he was offered the role on game of thrones.

Bronn is a ruthlessly practical warrior, which allows Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) to trust and be candid with him in the early seasons of game of thrones. In the books he gets an arranged marriage to a noblewoman outside the capital and is absent from the later part of the storyline, but in the TV show they kept him involved in the main series. This is usually attributed to the character’s popularity and Flynn’s performance, particularly because at some point the real-life drama would have made it easier to pull it off.

Flynn came out with his game of thrones co-star Lena Headey for a few years, but they broke up in early 2014. Headey played Queen Cersei Lannister. According to a report by The telegraph at the time, their relationship ended badly and the production arranged to break them up on set. However, Flynn later told Con of Thrones fans that was wrong.

“We were actually in the same scene together,” he said, according to a report from Huffington Post. “And the last time I saw Lena, we were talking, so I wouldn’t believe anything you read, and like I said, [the media] can get pretty desperate for stories… Lena is a wonderful person and a wonderful actress.”

Flynn’s outlaw status makes it easy to imagine him in this new Yellowstone series. There’s no premiere date in place for the series yet, but game of thrones is now streaming on HBO Max.
