Ms. Tourism Universe 2021 Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo graduated as Army Reservist – Manila Bulletin

Ms. Tourism Universe 2021 Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo took a new step forward when she recently graduated as a Reservist for the Philippine Army.

From staff sergeant, Hemilin was promoted lieutenant-colonel of the Philippine Air Force (Reserve).

“It is an honor to be a reservist for the community and for the country,” Hemilyn said in an interview. “Mahirap ang training pero para bayan, kakayanin natin.”

Hemilyn remembered those training days when she found out she was pregnant. “Almost patapos na rin ako ng training around the time I found out I was pregnant. I continued my training, but with less load. Finally, I finished my course.

Hemilyn said she and her lot comrades were trained by the military on public service, defense rescue and intelligence.

After graduation, Hemilyn declared that she was ready to serve our compatriots.

“Reservists can work hand in hand with our Kababayans if the need arises,” she said.

Hemilyn is the daughter of the former mayor of the town of Sorsogon, Casiguran, Dr Oscar Escudero. She is married to Philippine Air Force Lt. Col. Richard Antonio Tamayo, whose family owns the DALTA Medical Center at the University of Perpetual Help. They have two children.

She started financial management in Texas, USA and is a product of the Charlston School of Protocol and Etiquette and the Fashion Image Institute in San Francisco. She is the founder of Total Image, Inc., an image consulting agency.

A relative of Governor Chiz Escudero de Sorsogon, Hemilyn was a popular figure in the pageant industry long before his marriage.

Hemilyn is also a member of the United Women’s Artists Association of the Philippines, a group of professional women with common interests in the arts, led by fellow artist Menchu ​​Arandilla.
