Sony’s Spider-Man universe reportedly led to Sinister Six movie

Sony has always reportedly planned for its Spider-Man universe to feature a Sinister Six movie in the future.

It’s no secret that Sony really wants to make a Sinister Six movie starring Spider-Man’s most iconic villains. A few years ago, the studio hired Drew Goddard to lead a project that allegedly involved Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man facing his greatest enemies.

It is now widely believed that Spider-Man: No Path Home will feature a version of the Sinister Six, but that doesn’t appear to be the case for the Villains team. Anthony D’Alessandro shared on Deadline’s Nation of heroes podcast that Sony is not only going to connect Tom Hardy’s Venom to their Spider-Man universe, but that they’re also making a Sinister Six movie:

“Because Sony has always kept, aside from the current Spider-Man stuff that they do with the MCU Disney, Sony has always kept their Marvel stuff separate, and with that Venom they’re actually going to connect with the universe. Spiderman [that’s being set-up with the] MCU Disney. So it’s very interesting. I know one of their long term goals is to make Sinister Six. It is a bit like the project that we are all waiting for; their version of Spider-Man villains [universe]. “

The next Venom The sequel is Sony’s next Spider-Man project, and it will finally see Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock fight Woody Harrelson’s Cletus Kasady after he becomes the iconic comic book villain, Carnage. Let there be carnage will also star Naomie Harris as Kasady’s love interest, Shriek.

Directed by Andy Serkis from a screenplay written by Kelly Marcel, The Next Venom the sequel stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham and Woody Harrelson.
