Star Trek: Prodigy is in the same universe as the rest of the Star Trek shows.

Star Trek: Prodigy is gearing up to debut in the not-so-distant future, and when it does, it will usher in a whole new era of the Star Trek series that hasn’t existed for over 40 years; a Star Trek animated show aimed directly at children.

Since Star Trek: The Animated Series, there hasn’t been a show for the youngest Trek fans, and Prodigy will be a return to form. Fans of the series will also be able to purchase action figures of the characters, courtesy of Playmates, the makers of the ultra-popular Star Trek action figures of the 90s.

While not the first animated show created by Nu Trek’s show set, Lower Decks, it is the first aimed at younger viewers. Lower Decks is much more aimed at young adults, which is why it is inspired by Rick & Morty. Lower Decks and Prodigy will not only share the fact that they’re both animated shows, but they also share a universe.

What universe is Star Trek: Strange New Worlds in?

Some people don’t know which universe Prodigy, Strange New Worlds, and the rest of the Nu Trek shows reside in. While some think this is the Kelvin universe due to the almost identical style and design to Kelvin films, it actually isn’t.

Strange New Worlds, Prodigy, Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, and all the other Nu Trek shows that have been created are actually in the same universe as Voyager, Deep Space Nine, the original series, the animated series, the next generation, and Business.

They all share the same universe.

It may bother some, but it is the truth. None of these shows are on the Kelvin timeline. While that would have made a lot of fans happy, and probably should have been, the fact remains that they’re all the same shared universe.

For the best or for the worst.
